1988 Season (Freshman) Highlights and Awards: Twice earned Atlantic 10 Conference Freshman-of-the-Week honors … selected as an alternate to the 1989 Olympic Sports Festival.
Season Recap: Fulfilled the promise she demonstrated as a high school standout by supplanting senior Heidi Pilecki in the starting lineup … one of 8 Lady Lions to play in all 40 matches … she was a perfect complement to the team’s primary offensive attackers … registered 107 kills, 63 blocks and 209 digs … season highs: 7 kills (vs. Northeastern and Rhode Island, Oct. 7), 6 blocks (vs. Rhode Island, Oct. 7, and Alabama Birmingham) and 16 digs (North Carolina State).
Before Penn State: A 1988 AAU All-American, Schuller was an all-state, All-Southwest Florida and all-conference selection her senior season at Cypress Lake HS in Fort Myers, Fla.,. .. the 1987 and 1988 Fort Myers News Press Female Athlete-of-the-Year, she also was the school’s Most Valuable Player … 3-time all conference pick, she earned All-Southwest Florida honors as a setter/hitter her junior year … played in the 1988 Mizuno East West All-Star match … received a scholar athlete award from the Fort Myers-South Rotary Club … member of the Southwest Florida junior volleyball team.
