1990 Season (Sophomore) Highlights and Awards: Second-Team All-Atlantic 10 honors and ranked 2nd among A-10 players with an average of 3.185 digs/set.
Season Recap: Played in all 45 matches and 135 of 140 sets … paced the team with 430 digs, the 3rd-highest total in school history … contributed 245 kills (with a .285 hitting %), 21 service aces and 38 blocks … hit double-figures in digs in 22 matches … season-highs: 11 kills (3 times), 18 digs vs. Southern Illinois (10/29) … underwent shoulder surgery at the conclusion of the 1990 season and spent the spring and summer rehabilitating … selected to compete at the 1990 National Sports Festival.
Before Penn State: Kumfer was rated as one of the top 50 prospects in the country by Volleyball Monthly … a 4-year letterwinner as an outside hitter at Snider HS, she won All State honors as a senior and earned all-conference recognition 3 times … led Snider to the state title in l988 … Captain in 1988-89 … Snider won 90 of 109 matches during her career … member of the Munciana junior team that placed 9th at the USVBA Junior National Tournament in the summer of 1988.
