USA Falls to Brazil to End Week 1 of World Grand Prix

The USA Women’s Volleyball team fell to host-country Brazil on Sunday, leaving the U.S. Women in 9th place after Week 1 of the FIVB World Grand Prix.

“Our young team played at a reasonable level today,” U.S. Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon said in an interview with Maura Gladys in “We have the goal of improving each week and we took a step on this way in this round.” More from

The U.S. Women will compete in Week 2 of the World Grand Prix from August 7-9, in Li Miao, Chinese Taipei. Their first match will be against Dominican Republic (August 7th), followed by a match against Netherlands (August 8th), and a match against Germany (August 9th).
