6-1 S/OH Megan Courtney, a Junior at Kettering Archbishop Alter High School, is reported to have verbally committed to Penn State University for the 2012 season.

Welcome to Penn State Women’s Volleyball, the Greatest Show in Blue and White™ (OK, we’re biased).

Voted a 2010 First Team Preseason All Star by CincyVolleyball.com, in 2009 Courtney was the Greater Girls Cincinnati League (GGLC) Grey North co-Player of the Year, District 15 Divsion II Player of the Year, Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association 1st Team Division II All-State, and a PrepVolleyball.com All-American.  Many observers consider Courtney to be one of the top five players nationally in the 2012 class.

As noted in a very nice article in the Dayton Daily News, in 2008, Megan’s  high school team finished second in the state and she played on a Dayton Lady HoopStars 13U team that finished third in the nation, but last year she finally was on a national championshiop squad.

Courtney won a Junior Volleyball Director Association national championship in Louisville, Ky., June 26-30, 2009 with Cincinnati-based Team Z 16s Orange.  The tournament featured 500 teams that ranged from ages 12-18. Courtney’s team competed in the 16s Open division.
