Although Penn State went 2-0 over the weekend, it only won six of seven sets, registering a 3-1 win over Iowa and a 3-0 sweep of Wisconsin.
That momentary (we hope) lapse in perfection cost the Nittany Lions, as two voters in the AVCA Poll shifted their first-place votes from Penn State, with one going to Texas and one to Washington. In last week’s poll, the Nittany Lions received 50 first-place votes, to eight for Texas and two for Washington. This week, the Nittany Lions’ dropped to 48 first-place votes, with Texas garnering nine and Washington three.
