Penn State Volleyball Sweeps Minnesota In Maturi Pavilion

No. 14 Penn State women’s volleyball swept No. 12 Minnesota 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-22) Friday night at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis.

Jonni Parker and Kaitlyn Hord led a group of four Nittany Lions with double-digit kills, recording a match-high 16 and 15, respectively. Allie Holland and Adanna Rollins were also excellent in the convincing road win. Holland hit .550 with 12 kills and Rollins had a double-double with 11 kills and 13 digs against her alma mater and former teammates.

Jenna Hampton tied Stephanie Samedy for the match high with 16 digs, while senior setter Gabby Blossom turned in another impressive performance with 44 assists and 14 digs in one of Penn State’s best matches of the season so far. Blossom guided the Nittany Lions to a .356 hitting percentage. Freshman defensive specialist Quinn Menger had two of Penn State’s four aces.

In a crucial stretch of the season, Penn State delivered a timely all-around showing that could prove to be especially important down the road when deciding postseason seeding. Penn State even rallied from a 21-16 deficit to win the second set. The Nittany Lions (14-5, 7-2 Big Ten) will travel to Madison to face No. 3 Wisconsin Saturday at 7 p.m. ET in another huge test on Big Ten Network.
