Laurie Lokash

Laurie Lokash #7 DS 5’5″

1981 Media Guide: “Very determined to excel, according to Coach Rose.”

Russ Rose Now (2026): “Laurie Lokash was the first Norwin player in the program.  “Lo” went to West Virginia and then transferred to Penn State as a sophomore in 1980.  After she graduated from Penn State in 1982 she went on to have an incredibly successful career as the head coach at Slippery Rock.  Laurie was old school, tough as nails. She could stand at the door to South Gym and throw a ball and hit the opposite wall — maybe 120 to 150 feet away – with either arm, right-handed or left-handed.  It would be 90+ degrees in South Gym and the humidity was unbelievable in preseason, but she would practice in full sweats, full gray sweats. She liked the lather of it. Lo was one of those people that allowed me to build the program on toughness.  She competed hard and led by example, and it showed in her great career as a coach.”
