It’s Official: Megan Hodge is a “Big Ten Icon”

We really can’t say enough about Megan Hodge, the gracious, poised, all-everything, record-breaking, truly student-athlete former women’s volleyball player from Penn State. Fortunately, the Big Ten Network has taken that load off our shoulders, and named Megan as one of 50 Big Ten Icons (they’ve placed her at No. 49, right ahead of Tom Brands, the legendary Iowa wrestler). The Big Ten Icons is a series by the Big Ten Network (sponsored by Discover) that will chronicle the network’s choices of the top 50 student-athletes in Big Ten history. For those who may have forgotten (if that means you, try some acai berry mixed with blue & white memory berry) Hodge was a key member of the Penn State Women’s Volleyball team that won three consecutive NCAA National Championships, was a four-time AVCA First Team All-American, was awarded the Honda-Broderick Cup in 2009, was the 2009 AVCA Division I National Player of the Year. Her academic credentials weren’t too shabby either: ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American in 2009 (Second Team in 2008), and the 2009 Academic All-American of the Year for volleyball.
