Caroline Jurevicius Transfers To Penn State Volleyball

Caroline Jurevicius, a 6-foot-2 pin hitter from Cleveland, Ohio, announced her transfer to Penn State women’s volleyball on Instagram Thursday evening after redshirting at Nebraska last season.

Jurevicius, a member of the 2023 recruiting class, was one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal this offseason following her departure from Lincoln. Less than a week ago, Jurevicius was with the Huskers at the Final Four in Tampa, Florida. Now, she’s a Nittany Lion, following in her dad’s footsteps. She has four years of eligibility remaining.

Joe Jurevicius played wide receiver at Penn State from 1994-97 before being selected in the second round (No. 55 overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he won a Super Bowl ring following the 2002 season, as well as the Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns during his 11-year pro career.

Caroline, who will wear No. 14 for the Nittany Lions, was ranked as the nation’s No. 5 overall prospect in the 2023 cycle, per Prep Dig, while PrepVolleyball.com had her as the No. 17 overall recruit coming out of Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School in Chardon, Ohio. Jurevicius played club for Academy Volleyball Cleveland.

“I am thrilled to welcome Caroline to Penn State and our Nittany Lion family,” Katie Schumacher-Cawley told DigNittanyVolleyball. “She will bring a high level of athleticism and endless energy to Rec Hall every single day that will raise the level of play for everyone in the gym. We know she can’t wait to get started.”

Jurevicius led her high school team to an Ohio Division II state title as a senior in 2022, posting 27 kills in the five-set championship match. She was named her classification’s player of the year by Cleveland.com. Jurevicius finished her high school career with 1,184 kills, 429 digs, 178 total blocks, and 107 aces, per MaxPreps. She’s known to hit the ball extremely hard and apparently boasts an impressive jump serve.

Jurevicius won a bronze medal with the U.S. at the 2021 FIVB U18 World Championship in Durango, Mexico. She also competed in the Under Armour All-America Match in Orlando, Florida, to wrap up her prep career, something her new teammates, Izzy Starck and Ava Falduto, will do before arriving at Penn State in January with Jurevicius.

Jurevicius enrolled a semester early at Nebraska in January 2023, competing in beach and indoor spring practice for the Huskers before ultimately redshirting her lone season in Lincoln. The Penn State program listed Jurevicius as a right-side hitter in the graphic it posted on social media following her signing. She visited Penn State’s campus Thursday and committed on the spot.

Jurevicius shared a photo on Instagram of her posing next to the Lion Shrine on her visit and a photo of her as a child wearing a Penn State sweatshirt in Rec Hall. Jurevicius also tried on her new Penn State uniform during a photo shoot, modeling a sleeveless jersey expected to debut next season featuring Penn State in script lettering on the front and a Nittany Lion logo below the collar.
