Camryn Hannah Transfers To Penn State Volleyball

Camryn Hannah, a 6-foot-2 pin hitter from Chicago, Illinois, will transfer to Penn State women’s volleyball ahead of the 2023 season, the program announced Monday night.

A member of the 2020 recruiting class, Hannah was a standout at Clemson the last three seasons. She has two years of eligibility remaining. Hannah, who was a second-team All-ACC selection last fall, will arrive on campus after the spring semester.

Hannah visited Penn State last weekend to tour Rec Hall and the facilities with the coaching staff, meet her new teammates, and try on a few different uniform combinations. She also stopped by Beaver Stadium to take some photos on the field.

On Friday night, Hannah attended No. 1 Penn State wrestling’s match against No. 2 Iowa, joining 16,000+ fans for the largest crowd ever to watch a wrestling match at the Bryce Jordan Center. The Nittany Lions took care of  business, downing Iowa 23-14 to remain undefeated this season. Camryn must have liked the show (which, as seen in the video below, was spectacular):

Prior to college, Hannah represented Michio Chicago Volleyball Academy on the club circuit. She played for Marist High School before enrolling at Clemson. Hannah’s commitment to the Nittany Lions continued Katie Schumacher-Cawley’s strong recruiting of her hometown of Chicago and Illinois in general.

Hannah finished her Clemson career with 961 kills, 419 digs, 108 total blocks, 38 assists, and 32 aces. She had the second-most kills of any Division I freshman during the 2020 season. She was named to the ACC all-freshman team, the conference’s second team, and earned AVCA All-American honorable mention that year.

Hannah is the latest high-profile transfer to pick the Nittany Lions this offseason, joining Mac Podraza, Jess Mruzik, and Ally Van Eekeren as 2023 roster additions. Hannah and Mruzik will compete for playing time at the pin positions this summer.

Hannah’s addition to the Nittany Lions will give the program another proven scoring option at Podraza’s disposal. After a strong debut campaign as head coach of the Nittany Lions in 2022 that culminated in a trip to the Sweet 16, Schumacher-Cawley and her staff have continued to fill out the roster with impressive talent.

The Nittany Lions will certainly be in the conversation for the Big Ten title this fall given the team they’re putting together in Rec Hall. Fans of the program should be excited for what’s to come a few months from now when preseason camp rolls around in August.
