10-14-16: Penn State Straightens out Purdue (w/Haiku Wrap)

460px-shibata_zeshin_-_a_poetry_reading_-_walters_95157It’s a wrap — #10 Penn State (15-3, 7-0 B1G) defeated  #22 Purdue (11-7, 1-6 B1G) in straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-17).   Here are our very short (Haiku) and short and sweet (just the facts) wraps:

Penn State was led by 6-1 Jr. OH Simone Lee (15 kills) and 6-0 Jr. setter Abby Detering (directed attack to a team .322 hitting %).  6-3 Jr. MH Haleigh Washington registered 8 kills (.583 hitting %!), Detering 6-1 Jr. OH Ali Frantti added 5 kills each. 6-2 RS Fr. MH Tori Gorrell totaled 4 kills and 3 blocks.  6-2 Jr. RS/Opp Heidi Thelen finished with 4 kills.  In the backrow, 5-5 Fr. libero Kendall White totaled 11 digs, with 5-7 So. DS Keeton Holcomb adding 5 digs.
