The latest American Volleyball Coaches (“AVCA”) poll is out, and 18-0 Penn State remains #1, with 53 first place votes, followed by 12-0 Texas (7 first place votes), and 15-2 Hawaii. Penn State picked up five first place votes following its sweep of Minnesota on Sunday (26-24, 25-21, 25-14), with two coming from #2 Texas, and three from Washington, which had not lost a set all season, but was stunned by Stanford 3-2 on Sunday (19-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 15-12).

It was a weekend filled with upsets, as then-#6 Florida was swept by LSU (28-26, 25-20, 25-22) in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, and previously struggling Wisconsin swept then-#18 Michigan State followed by a 3-1 victory over then-#8 Michigan (26-28, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21). On Sunday, Michigan State lost again on the road (they are now 0-4 this season in Big Ten road matches), this time 3-1 to Iowa (25-14, 25-15, 25-19).
