Russ Rose Then (2010): “Cathy has improved every year she’s been here. She serves tough, is quick and has a great nose for the ball. She’s always upbeat and possesses great energy. Cathy made some great plays for us down the stretch in our run for the national championship last year.”
Russ Rose Now (2025): “Cathy spent one year at Boston College and then transferred to Penn State. In my eyes, she was one of the key players on our championship teams in 2008, 2009, and 2010, because she was so quick defensively and because of her skill with spiker coverage. Every time she came into the game, she was making big plays, always smiling, always having fun. She was really an energizer to lots of people around her. She played club volleyball for Gean Selznick, who is in the Volleyball Hall of Fame and was a great player and coach, and he raved about her in the recruiting process. And when she transferred to Penn State, she was as advertised. She really was terrific, in every aspect of the game. She could serve, she could pass, she was quick, and she just had a nose for the ball, which is critical to winning. Cathy was wonderful.”
