1997 Season: Redshirt Year
Russ Rose Then (1998): Nadia continues to be one of the hardest workers we have had in the program. I just think Nadia’s playing catch-up with a lot of her peers as far as actual game play. I think her technique has improved a lot, but now we need to find opportunities where Nadia can get in there and actually play. She hits the ball very hard, her knowledge of the game is improving, her attitude is fantastic, and she’s been everything I expected her to be. She’s a very physical middle with a very high upside and as long as she continues to work hard, I think there’s going to be an increased opportunity for her to play. Maybe not as much this year, but certainly, she’s someone we’re going to have to depend on in the future.
Russ Rose Now (2025): Nadia and Katie [Schumacher]. Partners in crime. They both redshirted in their first year. Nadia was a great teammate. Very strong net player, quick in the middle, very strong. After college she went on and played professionally for a while, and also was in coaching for a while [head coach at DePaul from 2010 to 2017]. I think she works as a fundraiser at Notre Dame.
Before Penn State: Four-time all conference selection at Lincoln-Way High School; also earned All-Area honors three times and All-State once. Volleyball Monthly “Fab 50” selection in 1997; two-time team MVP; chosen as captain her junior year; member of the USA Junior National Team for 1999, 1998, and 1997; played club three seasons for Chicago Juniors.
