In a tightly-contested road match, Penn State defeated Indiana 3-1, improving to 16-1 overall and 6-0 in the B1G. Going into the match with Penn State, Indiana was undefeated this season at Wilkinson Hall, having won all 7 contests.
Gillian Grimes (19 digs), Maggie Mendelson (6 blocks), Ava Falduto (12 digs) and Izzy Starck (53 assists and 12 digs) led the way for the Nittany Lions. Jess Mruzik (21 kills), Camryn Hannah (17 kills) and Maggie Mendelson (11 kills) were tops for the Penn State offensive, while Izzy Starck (3 blocks), Caroline Jurevicius (3 blocks), Taylor Trammell (3 blocks), and Jess Mruzik (3 blocks) came up big at the net.
Penn State struggled offensively in Set 1, as Indian took the set 25-22. Penn State flipped the script in Set 2, winning 25-22. Although the Nittany Lions were up 22-17, Indiana hung tough and closed the gap to 24-22, before Mruzik stopped the Hoosiers cold with a kill for set point.
Set 3 was even closer, as Penn State stymied 5 Indiana chances for set point. The Nittany Lions finally prevailed 32-30. Cam Hannah posted 7 kills in the set.
