Heidi Thelen Totals 25 Kills in Upset Win
Notre Dame Academy, led by 2014 Penn State verbal commit 6-3 Heidi Thelen, rallied after falling behind 2 sets to 1, to defeat Loiusville Sacred Heart (ranked #2 in Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25). Both schools have four Division I college recruits, according to Richard Skinner’s story on Cincinnati.com.
Here’s an excerpt from Richard Skinner’s write-up of the match:
The Notre Dame volleyball team learned a valuable lesson the hard way on Tuesday night about what can happen when it doesn’t put a team on the ropes away, but then it showed it has a quality any team in any sport what love to have: perseverance.
Notre Dame, the No. 9-ranked team in the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25, blew a 23-13 lead in the third game of its best-of-five match against No. 2 Louisville Sacred Heart to fall behind two games to one, then won the final two games to claim a 25-21, 16-25, 23-25, 25-14, 15-10 victory before a big and raucous crowd at Notre Dame.
