Alexis Stucky announced her transfer from the Florida Gators to Penn State women’s volleyball for her final season of collegiate eligibility in 2026, posting the news on her Instagram account Sunday night.

Stucky, a 6-foot-2 setter from Laramie, Wyoming, received her bachelor’s degree in sport management from UF last summer and recently wrapped up her redshirt junior season. Stucky and the Gators were swept by SMU in the NCAA tournament’s round of 32 on December 6th in Dallas, Texas.
Stucky was considered one of the country’s best-available setters in the transfer portal this cycle, and her addition to Penn State’s 2026 roster provides a significant boost for the Nittany Lions. Stucky reunites with former Florida teammate and close friend Kennedy Martin in University Park. The two helped the Gators beat Penn State 3-1 in the 2023 season opener at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Now, they’re both wearing blue and white.
Stucky led Florida’s 2023 team to three top-10 wins in its first four matches, but a season-ending knee injury, suffered on September 17 against then-No. 1 Wisconsin, derailed the Gators’ hopes of a deep run. Stucky returned to action the following year, and continued to gain strength and confidence this fall.
Stucky earned spots on the 2025 AVCA Southeast region first team and the 2025 All-SEC second team. She was previously the 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year and a 2022 AVCA third-team All-American.
Head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley said this to DigNittanyVolleyball about Alexis Stucky’s transfer to Penn State:
“I am so excited to welcome Alexis and her family to our Penn State family. Alexis will undoubtedly bring an incredible combination of skill and leadership to our gym right from the start. Her work ethic, experience, and competitive spirit will elevate not only her game, but also the performance of her teammates. We are excited about the impact she will make, and can’t wait to see how she will contribute to our team’s success in the upcoming season.”
Stucky will enroll in graduate courses at Penn State ahead of the spring semester, which begins on Monday, January 12, allowing her to participate in spring practices with her new teammates. One of those new teammates is freshman setter Danielle Whitmire, who will enroll early this January alongside Penn State’s three other 2026 signees. Whitmire will have the chance to learn under Stucky’s tutelage as she transitions to the college game.
Stucky currently sits at 3,047 assists, 626 digs, 198 kills, 167 total blocks, and 80 aces so far during her college career. Her mother, Jill (Jones) Stucky, played volleyball at the University of Wyoming.
Alexis had a highly decorated career at Laramie High School, where her mother was her head coach. She was a four-time Wyoming 4A all-state selection and was named back-to-back 4A state player of the year as an upperclassman, leading her team to consecutive state titles. She twice earned Gatorade Wyoming Volleyball Player of the Year (2020-21 and 2021-22) honors. Her younger sister, Maddy Stucky, a rising redshirt sophomore setter at the University of Wyoming, followed in her footsteps as the state’s Gatorade award winner the next two years.
Alexis was named MVP of the 2021 Under Armour All-America Volleyball Match and gained experience with the U.S. youth national team prior to college. Stucky puts up a very consistent ball for her attackers and is excellent at saving overpasses and turning them into hittable shots. Landing Stucky was a major win for Schumacher-Cawley and her staff, as graduate senior setter Addie Lyon exhausted her collegiate eligibility in 2025, and Whitmire is working her way back from a leg injury she suffered late in her senior season at Walnut Grove High School in Texas.
