OFFENSE

“Glass takes home weekly Big Ten honors after leading Penn State to road wins against Ohio State and No. 5 Minnesota last week. The senior recorded two double-doubles and passed her team to a combined .340 hitting mark as the Nittany Lions extended their NCAA-record winning streak to 82 matches. Against the Buckeyes on Wednesday, the setter put up 47 assists with 13 digs, also hitting 6-for-6 in attack attempts with a service ace and four block assists. On Sunday vs. the nationally ranked Gophers, she tallied 46 assists with 11 digs while putting down three kills, another ace and three blocks. Forty-six assists marks the highest three-set total in the Big Ten this season. For the week, Glass averaged 13.3 assists and 3.4 digs per set, also with 1.0 blocks and 1.3 kills per stanza. The weekly honor is the fourth of her career.”

FRESHMAN Darcy Dorton, Penn State

“Dorton earns her fourth Freshman of the Week award after finishing second on the team with 3.1 kills per set and a .302 attack percentage as Penn State notched wins over Ohio State and No. 5 Minnesota. Against the Buckeyes, the freshman tallied 13 kills on .308 hitting before putting down nine hits at a .294 clip vs. the Gophers. Dorton also tallied four digs and four total blocks on the week.”

CO-DEFENSE
Johannah Bangert, Illinois

“Bangert takes home defensive accolades after tying an 18-year-old school record with 13 block assists in Illinois’ five-set win over Purdue on Friday. The total is the highest single-match blocks total in the Big Ten this season. The junior added six more stuffs the following day in a sweep over Indiana, giving her an average of 2.4 per set on the weekend. Now pacing the conference with 1.52 blocks per set, Bangert anchored the Illini defense that held opponents to just .106 hitting on the weekend. The weekly award is the third of her career.”

Brittney Dolgner, Wisconsin

“Dolgner led Wisconsin to a pair of wins against ranked opponents over the weekend, averaging 4.9 digs per set as Wisconsin swept No. 18 Michigan State and defeated No. 8 Michigan, 3-1. The senior tallied 16 digs against the Spartans, also leading the Badgers on offense with 15 kills on .444 hitting. Dolgner contributed two blocks and received 17 of 18 serves as the Badgers out-hit the Spartans, .256-.183. The following night against the Wolverines, Dolgner racked up 18 digs and executed on 31 of 32 service reception opportunities while putting down 14 kills and a pair of aces. The weekly award is the first of Dolgner’s career and the first for Wisconsin this season.”
