For the third straight week (this season) the Penn State Women’s Volleyball team is ranked #1 in the country, in the weekly poll released today by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. This week, the total #1 votes (60) equals the total voters (60) (last week there were 61 votes from 60 voters), with Penn State receiving 52, Texas 7 and Washington 1. For the second consecutive week, three Big Ten teams are in the top ten, with rivals Michigan ranked #7 and Minnesota ranked #9, and Illinois (#14), and Michigan State (#18) also ranked in the top 20. St. Louis University, which PSU swept the first weekend of the season, is ranked #16. We’ll have more on the results from the past week tomorrow.
In other news, Penn State Freshman OH Darcy Dorton was named co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week, sharing the honor with Minnesota’s Tabitha Love, after earning the award solo last week. Here are the links to the Big Ten release and the release from gopsusports.
