According to an article by Andrew J. Cassavell posted today on thedailycollegianonline.com, Coach Russ Rose has penciled in 6-2 Freshman Darcy Dorton to fill the Outside Hitter position vacated by NCAA 2008 Player of the Year Nicole Fawcett, 6-5 Sophomore Katie Kabbes and 6-3 Junior Fatima Balza continue to battle for the open Middle Hitter position, and Rose has not yet decided between juniors Alyssa D’Errico and Cathy Quilico for the starting defensive specialist position.

Several questions remain unanswered: who will replace Roberta Holehouse at Libero? (We had assumed it was D’Errico.) How much will Freshman Kristin Carpenter play, and at what positions? Will Coach Rose wear a blue sweater on opening night?

We’ll learn the answers soon enough when Penn State faces off against Miami University, Alabama, and St. Louis University on Friday and Saturday in the Active Ankle Invitational in St. Louis.
