No. 7 Penn State women’s volleyball lost to No. 4 Illinois 3-2 (25-15, 22-25, 25-27, 25-23, 13-15) Saturday night at Huff Hall.
Jonni Parker led the Nittany Lions with 16 kills in the loss, while Kendall White tied her career high with 32 digs.
Jordyn Poulter and Jacqueline Quade were fantastic all night long for the Fighting Illini, helping the home team rally for a big win late in the fifth set. Poulter, Quade, and Bryanna Weiskircher were the only players with double-doubles.
Nia Reed and Taylor Leath followed closely behind Parker in kills, and Penn State outhit the Illini .240 to .203, but Poulter was too dominant to be stopped when it mattered most.
Freshman middle blockers Serena Gray and Kaitlyn Hord tallied eight and six kills, respectively, while combining for 12 blocks in Champaign. Jenna Hampton and Gabby Blossom combined for 16 digs off the bench.
The Nittany Lions (20-6) return to Rec Hall Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. when they host No. 15 Michigan. Their final four matches of the regular season are all at home.
