Before a national television audience and a surprisingly large Wednesday night crowd, Penn State defeated Ohio State 3-0 (25-21, 25-11, 25-20) to bring its national record winning streak to 87. Although the Buckeyes lost, they gave Penn State all it could handle in the first and third sets. As Penn State’s All American OH Megan Hodge noted in a post-match interview, the Nittany Lions may have come out a bit flat in the third set, whereas the Buckeyes played hard on every point. Hodge’s assessment: it’s something Penn State will need to do going forward.
Still, Penn State prevailed against a tough opponent on a night in which they weren’t quite at their best. For complete match statistics Click Here .
Up next: the Minnesota Gophers, in a Friday night match that will be televised nationally on the Big Ten Network.
