The Nittany Lions were expected to sweep, and they did. They were expected to dominate, and from a fan’s perspective, they did — though in the second set their hitting dropped off noticeably. The team hit .361, led by 6-3 So. MB Haleigh Washington (9 kills, .467 attack %), 6-4 RS Sr. RS Aiyana Whitney (8 kills, .400 attack %) and 6-2 So. OH Ali Frantti (7 kills, .636 attack %).
6-0 RS Fr. setter Bryanna Weiskircher led the team with 9 digs, with 5-6 Fr. libero Keeton Holcomb contributing 8, and 6-2 Sr. OH Megan Courtney chipping in with 6.
A few points worth noting
- Nia Reed recorded the first kill of her Penn State career. Also the second. And the third. Congrats Nia!
- Simone Lee served for (we believe) the first time this season (and registered an ace!)
- Aiyana Whitney also served for (we believe) the first time this season.
- We saw the 6-2 again, with 5-8 Fr. setter Wilma Rivera and 6-1 So. OH Simone Lee subbing in for Weiskircher and Whitney.
