Penn State and Texas Both Lose!!!! (#1 Votes in the AVCA Poll)

It was bound to happen, but few thought it would happen in only the third week of the still-young season. But sure enough, when the AVCA Poll was released today, Penn State lost a first-place vote, dropping from 52 to only 51, and #2 ranked Texas suffered the same fate, dropping from seven first-place votes to six.

The Washington Huskies, which swept then-#4 Florida last week were the beneficiaries of the judges’ shifting affections, jumping from one to three first-place votes.

The AVCA poll ranks three Big Ten teams in the top 10 (Penn State #1, Michigan at #7, and Minnesota #9), with Illinois at #14 and Michigan State at #17. St. Louis, which the Nittany Lions swept on August 29th, is ranked #22.
