Molly Robertson — 5’10” Setter
North Allegheny High School
Wexford, PA
Committed to Penn State on July 26, 2025
2024 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Girls’ Volleyball Player of the Year
“Molly Robertson Commits To Penn State Volleyball,” DigNittanyVolleyball, July 26, 2025, by Ethan Kasales
Molly Robertson became the fourth member of Penn State women’s volleyball’s 2027 recruiting class Saturday when the 5-foot-10 setter verbally committed to the Nittany Lions.
Robertson is a rising junior at North Allegheny High School in Wexford, Pennsylvania, a northern suburb of Pittsburgh. She was named the 2024 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Girls’ Volleyball Player of the Year and a member of the publication’s all-area team, an honor only six players from the WPIAL receive each year.
Robertson announced the news on her Instagram account Saturday around noon, saying:
“I’m BEYOND excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Penn State University! A massive thank you to all of my amazing coaches and teammates that have pushed me to become the player I am today. Thank you to my family who has shown me constant love and support throughout this process. A HUGE thank you to Coach Katie, Brian, Mike, and Megan for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. This is truly a dream come true! All glory to God! WE ARE!!”
Robertson beat out 2026 Pitt setter commit Isabelle Hoppe (Pine-Richland) and North Carolina freshman setter Sienna Cozza (North Catholic) for the Post-Gazette’s Player of the Year award last fall. Robertson will be a setter at Penn State, but she’s also quite a talented outside hitter, leading the Tigers with 391 kills and adding 250 digs in 2024. Robertson also earned MaxPreps PA Volleyball Player of the Year, PIAA 4A all-state recognition, first-team all-section, and first-team All-Big 56 as a sophomore.
North Allegheny volleyball tied a Pennsylvania high school record by winning its eighth straight PIAA 4A state championship last fall. Robertson and the Tigers can outright claim the record — originally set by Norwin High School girls’ volleyball (1976-83) and Villa Maria Academy girls’ swimming (2011-18) — with their ninth title in a row in 2025.
North Allegheny finished 21-1 last fall and beat Spring-Ford Area High School in the state title match. Only halfway through her high school career, Robertson is racking up accolades at a staggering pace, and now, she can add Penn State commit to her biography. Pennsylvania isn’t traditionally known as a high school volleyball power, but Robertson and others are doing their part to slowly change that narrative.
Robertson joined outside hitter Olivia Henry, right-side hitter Nejari Crooks, and middle blocker Taylor Harrington in Penn State’s 2027 recruiting class, which could finish No. 1 overall. Penn State volleyball alumna Heidi Miller previously coached Robertson at Revolution, but since the Pittsburgh branch of the club recently shut down, she will now play for Academy Volleyball Cleveland. Caroline and Ava Jurevicius both played for AVC.
Robertson has attended camps at Penn State for years, most recently competing in the program’s 8 Star Camp I earlier this summer. She was on hand at Rec Hall, alongside Henry, Crooks, and Harrington, for Penn State’s 3-1 win over Nebraska on November 29, 2024. Robertson had several Ivy League options on the table, but committed to Katie Schumacher-Cawley and the Nittany Lions in order to continue her family legacy. Both of Robertson’s parents graduated from Penn State.
Robertson’s commitment gives the Nittany Lions an entirely East Coast-based 2027 recruiting class, as Henry hails from New York, Crooks is from North Carolina, and Harrington is from Virginia. Robertson will have the chance to learn under star setter Izzy Starck for a season before competing with 2026 Penn State setter commit Danielle Whitmire.
