Penn State women’s volleyball commit Chloe Chicoine will represent the United States at the 2021 FIVB U18 World Championship September 20-29 in Durango, Mexico.
Chicoine, the lone member of the Nittany Lions’ 2023 recruiting class, made the U.S. U18 national team’s 12-player roster announced by USA Volleyball Tuesday afternoon.
As the U.S. Women's National Team heads into the Olympic quarterfinals, the future also looks bright. We're proud to announce the 12 members of the 2021 U18 Girls National Team, who will compete at U18 Worlds in September.

Chicoine, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter/libero from Lafayette, Indiana, verbally committed to Penn State earlier this summer on June 24. Chicoine is heading into her junior season at McCutcheon High School, but will miss a few matches for the Mavericks in order to compete on the international stage.
Chicoine and 23 other high school players trained and competed against each other July 17-23 in Anaheim, California, for a spot on the U18 national team roster.
Already one of the top prospects from the 2023 recruiting class, Chicoine continues to add to her impressive resume halfway through her high school career. She competes for Circle City VBC on the club circuit and led her 17s team to the 2021 USAV Girls Junior National Championship this June in Las Vegas.
Eight of the 12 U.S. players selected to compete in Mexico this September have already announced verbal commitments to continue their playing careers in college. Nebraska leads the way with four commits on the roster, while Minnesota boasts two future Golden Gophers on the team. Florida and Penn State are tied with one commit apiece.
“Twenty-four of the best athletes in our country convened in Anaheim in order to grow, push each other and, at the same time, come together as a team,” Girls U18 head coach Jamie Morrison said in a release. “The 24 girls who are a part of this training team exceeded our expectations. I have seen the future of USA Volleyball and it is bright.”
Chicoine will return to Anaheim September 16 to train for a few days before traveling to Mexico for the U18 World Championship. The U.S. won the gold medal in the event for the first time in 2019 and heads to Mexico as the reigning champions.
Although Chicoine is still a couple years away from enrolling at Penn State in 2023, Big Ten volleyball fans should get to know her name now, because she could be quite a prominent player in the conference in the not-too-distant future.
