Russ Rose Then (1997): “Carrie had a real good freshman year from the standpoint of where she started and the progression that she went through. We were fortunate that we had senior outside hitters in Angie Kammer and Heidi Rottinghaus that allowed us to bring Carrie along slowly, but I thought Carrie’s contributions at the end of the year were excellent. I thought she played exceptionally well against Nebraska in the regional finals and I hope that she would be able to take that experience and the knowledge that she had as a successful junior player and be able to improve in her areas where she’s a little weak. She’s a great passer and a strong player at the net, and I would expect her to continue to make a positive impact in the Big Ten c;onference.”
Russ Rose Now (2025): “Carrie was a great six-rotation player — a player who, like Bonnie Bremner and Lauren Cacciamani, was on the court all the time. She was an exceptional passer, an exceptional blocker, and a very strong attacker. She was playing right when people were starting to run the slide. Her club team, Dead Frog Volleyball Club, was the top team in Michigan, and she was really skilled. Carrie had played with Lauren and Bonnie for four years, so they were very comfortable playing together. Carrie was somebody that I could match up on the other team’s best attacker. She made important contributions as a player, but was also a valuable member of the team as a competitor and a great teammate.”
