Penn State’s Junior MH Arielle Wilson has been a key factor in helping Penn State maintain its NCAA-record 80 match winning streak, but she’s on a streak of her own, as she was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for the second consecutive week.
Wilson currrently leads the NCAA with a .575 hitting percentage (2.82 kills/set, which ranks 3rd on the Nittany Lions) and leads the Big Ten with 1.49 blocks/set. Against Iowa this past Friday, she totaled 14 kills (hitting .571), with eight blocks, a dig and an assist. Against Wisconsin on Saturday, she registered seven kills (hitting .333), adding six blocks and an ace. Wilson’s combined statistics for those two matches were 3.0 kills/match (hitting .472) and 2.0 blocks/set.
Below are highlights of those two matches, courtesy of the Big Ten Network, plus an interview with Arielle at the end of the segment about lessons learned from Christa Harmotto and from losing a set in the Iowa match.
