Recruiting Update: Taylor Krause and Kelly Robertson, Carley Muller, Nia Reed, Haleigh Washington

Taylor Krause and Kelly Robertson (2013)

Parkland falls in state championship match

John Heilig, in a Special to The Morning Call, has a writeup on Parkland High School’s loss to Hempfield on November 17, 2012.  Penn State 2013 verbal commits 5-6 DS Taylor Krause and 6-0 MH/OH Kelly Robertson were among the key players for Parkland.

The Parkland girls volleyball team has cryptic messages on the backs of their practice T-shirts. This year, the message was CTHOMT — for Climb The Hill One More Time.

It has a double meaning. As a training exercise, the girls race up a hill on the Parkland campus, and they wanted to climb the hill to a state championship one more time, as they did last year.

Unfortunately, Hempfield, the team the Trojans defeated in the championship match last year, had other ideas. The Black Knights defeated the Trojans, 3-1 to regain the championship they won in 2010 and lost last year.

Immaculate Heart wins Non-Public title with a heavy heart

From the November 17, 2012 article by Jeremy Schneider of the Star Ledger:

Immaculate Heart Academy was not playing a regular match on Saturday. It was playing for its sixth straight NJSIAA Non-Public title. It was playing for a spot in the Tournament of Champions. It was playing for a chance at redemption against No. 1 Bogota.

But above all, Immaculate Heart was playing for Dean.

At William Paterson University in Wayne, Immaculate Heart defeated Holy Angels in straight sets, 25-6, 25-13, for vice principal Toni Marie Hals, known affectionately as Dean, who lost a six-year battle with ovarian cancer just hours before the match began.

Video: Bergen County Tournament: Bogota vs. IHA

This video is from the October 28, 2012 match between  Immaculate Heart Academy and Bogota, which Bogota won 2-1.  Penn State verbal commit 6-2 OH Nia Reed is #17 for IHA.  Here’s what Jeremy Schneider of the Star Ledger had to say about the match:

The heavyweight bout between No. 1 Immaculate Heart Academy and No. 2 Bogota for the Bergen County Tournament title lived up to the billing.

At the end of the day, it was the challenger knocking off the reigning champion. Bogota beat Immaculate Heart in three sets (17-25, 25-20, 25-22) to win the title and take the No. 1 spot in The Star-Ledger Top 20 right before the beginning of the state tournaments.
