Check out the transcript from Wednesday’s Penn State women’s volleyball media availability featuring quotes from junior defensive specialist Emily Sciorra.
The Nittany Lions (22-6) wrap up the regular season with a pair of home tilts against No. 3 Minnesota and No. 8 Wisconsin this weekend at Rec Hall. Both matches will air on Big Ten Network at 8 p.m.
Emily Sciorra on her favorite Thanksgiving food:
“Baked ham.”
Emily Sciorra on the best part of being a student-athlete outside of actually playing:
“It’s definitely the people involved with the program, because we have so many people supporting us and helping us through everything. It’s such a good network of people.”
Emily Sciorra on her first impression of Jenna Hampton:
“I thought she played hard. I think she’s a good player. She’s a little quiet but she’s definitely opened up.”
Emily Sciorra on the best piece of advice Coach Rose has given her:
“He says, ‘Everything matters’ all the time. That relates to volleyball and the working world. Just make sure we take care of everything.”
Emily Sciorra on what sticks out to her about Minnesota:
“Minnesota limits their errors so it makes it really hard. We have to balance our errors too to make sure they don’t control the ball and wait for us to make the mistakes.”
Emily Sciorra on her biggest strength as a player:
“I can bounce back from making errors. I like to make up for an error with a better play. I think my mindset is pretty good.”
Emily Sciorra on how she was introduced to volleyball:
“It was third grade. It was a house volleyball team. I was really young. My mom just wanted me to try every sport that I wanted, so we tried it out and it’s stuck.”
Emily Sciorra on what it’s like when alums return:
“It’s incredible. They’re all off playing professional volleyball or [starting] their families. It’s awesome seeing them because they can relate and understand the program. They check in and see how we’re doing and root us on along the way.”
